Barry Keoghan, the Dublin native who was nominated for an Oscar in 2023, has been added to the cast for the new “Peaky Blinders” movie, Netflix has confirmed.

Keoghan will star alongside Irish Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, who is reprising his role as the iconic Tommy Shelby, and Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson in the highly anticipated film.

According to Deadline, details of Keoghan's role in "Peaky Blinders" are being kept under wraps for now.

This won't be the first time the two Irish actors share the screen - they both featured in 2017's "Dunkirk," which won three Oscars.

Following years of speculation about a "Peaky Blinders" movie, Netflix confirmed in June that a film was indeed on the way and that Cillian Murphy would be fronting the project.

"It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me," Murphy said in a statement accompanying the Netflix announcement earlier this summer.

"It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders.

"This is one for the fans."

Cork native Murphy won four IFTAs for his turn as Tommy Shelby in the critically acclaimed series that ran for six seasons and concluded in 2022.

Details of the film's plot are also hush-hush for the moment, though Steven Knight, the creator of the series and writer of the new film, previously told Deadline that the story would be set during World War II.

Meanwhile, Keoghan, 31, joins the "Peaky Blinders" movie cast as his acting career continues to go from strength to strength.

Last year, he landed a Supporting Actor nomination at the Oscars for his role in the Irish juggernaut "The Banshees of Inisherin." He ultimately won a BAFTA for his role as Dominic Kearney in the film.

More recently, Keoghan landed Golden Globe, IFTA, and BAFTA acting nominations for his lead role in this year's buzzy flick "Saltburn."

Other notable roles for the Dublin actor include "The Killing of a Sacred Deer," "American Animals," "Chernobyl," "Calm with Horses," "The Green Knight," "Eternals," and "The Batman." He even had a small arc on the gritty Irish crime drama "Love / Hate."

Keoghan, who has a son, Brando, with his former girlfriend Alyson Sandro, was recently romantically linked with US popstar Sabrina Carpenter, even appearing in her music video for "Please, Please, Please." However, the two have reportedly split.
