From his humble beginnings in Irish cinema to starring in big-budget blockbusters, Irish actor Barry Keoghan has swiftly become one of the most exciting talents in the movie industry today.
Keoghan, who was born in Dublin, has showcased his versatility as an actor across a range of genres.
Now, following the hype of cult film "Saltburn," Betfair Casino has delved deep into the roles that have made the most impact for the 31-year-old actor on the silver screen.
The popularity of his roles was measured by a unique index score generated by ratings on IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic, with the lower the overall index score the higher the ranking.
The rankings reveal that fans couldn’t decide between Keoghan’s performances in Christopher Nolan’s "Dunkirk" and Martin McDonagh's "The Banshees of Inisherin."
Set in 1940, "Dunkirk" - which tells the story of the Dunkirk evacuation - received a staggering 34 major nominations in 2018. Depicting the role of George Mills in the war film, Keoghan starred alongside Hollywood’s biggest stars including Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, and Harry Styles.
In joint first place, "The Banshees of Inisherin" saw Keoghan play the troubled Dominic Kearney, who supported Pádraic (Colin Farrell) as he attempted to rekindle his friendship with Colm (Brendan Gleeson) on a remote Irish island. For his performance, Keoghan took home the best supporting actor gong at the 2023 British Academy of Film and TV Awards and was nominated for an Academy Award.
Keoghan’s role in "71," which tells the story of a British soldier (Jack O’Connell) in Belfast, placed second in the new ranking.
"The Batman" followed closely behind, with Keoghan briefly depicting the Joker in the 2022 film, while "The Green Knight" took the fourth spot. His role in "American Animals" completed the top five.
Meanwhile, some may be surprised to see cult flick "Saltburn" in joint ninth position. After becoming the must-see film in recent months, the drama took the final spot on the list alongside mystery flick "Traders."
