While it wasn’t just Irish fans looking forward to seeing Cillian Murphy return to the Oscars, we were all wondering if he’d actually made it to LA or not.
Cillian had been asked back for the 97th Academy Awards to present at this year’s ceremony, but as the red carpet completed, Murphy was nowhere in sight.
However, when the time came for the Best Actor award, Conan O’Brien introduced him as having the same genetics, but being more handsome, and sure enough, out walked the Corkonian onto the stage.

It had seemed to many that Cillian had forgotten to attend the Oscars, as he wasn’t seen on the red carpet or in any videos sneaking in the back.
One person commented on his suspected absence, writing: "Cillian Murphy does in fact NOT stun at the Oscars," while another wrote in Spanish: "Where is Cillian Murphy?" with an image of someone throwing a chair in rage.
A third person pondered: "Did Cillian Murphy forget he needs to attend the Oscars?"
It turns out, no he didn’t.
Another fan, hilariously, had been waiting to see him and missed him, writing: "I WAS SITTING LIKE A FOLLY IN MY LIVING ROOM FOR 4 HOURS, WAITING FOR CILLIAN MURPHY TO COME OUT AT THE OSCARS AND IT JUST COMES OUT WHEN I’M IN THE BATHROOM!"

The Oscar went to Adrien Brody for his role in "The Brutalist," and as he threw away his gum as he made his way to the stage to accept his award, many wondered was he going to recreate his viral 2003 moment with Murphy.
While he didn’t, Halle Berry had other ideas as the two embraced on the red carpet and she seized the opportunity to get payback on Brody for essentially lobbing-the-gob when he won his first Oscar.

She told Variety’s Marc Malkin afterward: "That was one hell of a night for him, and for me as well. To be a part of his moment… tonight I had to pay him back.
"I’ve seen him out at parties, but this is the first time since that night that I’ve seen him on the red carpet somewhere. He’s nominated this year. He deserved that."
