Colin Farrell’s new movie “Triage” will open this year’s Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) on October 15.
The Irish actor and his co-star, Spanish actress Paz Vega, are scheduled to attend the festival’s opening night gala at what will be their film’s European premiere.
“Triage” premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, where Farrell now infamously attacked a photographer for yelling at his sister on the red carpet.
“Triage,” from Bosnian filmmaker Danis Tanovic, stars Farrell as a war photojournalist suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. The photographer returns to Ireland to discover that his best friend has failed to come home.
Most of the film was shot in Dublin.
“Triage” will kick off the fourth annual RIFF, which will feature 12 films in competition.
Farrell’s flick will be up against “The Last Station,” starring Helen Mirren and James McAvoy, and “Up in the Air,” starring George Clooney.
The festival runs from October 15 to 23, and will be based in the the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
