Irish actors could play a part in setting more than 25 records at the Critics Choice Awards 2025, which will air on Friday, February 7, after being postponed due to the devastating wildfires in California.
New data compiled by VegasInsider.com gives a detailed overview of all the records that could be set on Sunday, and Irish talent - as usual! - makes a strong showing.
First up is Caitríona Balfe who could become the first Irish actress to win in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category. Balfe is nominated for her lead role in the Starz hit “Outlander.”
The Co Monaghan native is up against Kathy Bates ("Matlock"), Shanola Hampton ("Found"), Keira Knightley ("Black Doves"), Keri Russell ("The Diplomat"), and Anna Sawai ("Shōgun").
Elsewhere, Fiona Shaw could become the first Irish actress to win in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. Cork native Shaw is nominated for her role in "Bad Sisters."
Shaw is up against Moeka Hoshi ("Shōgun"), Allison Janney ("The Diplomat"), Nicole Kidman ("Lioness"), Skye P. Marshall ("Matlock"), and Anna Sawai ("Pachinko").

Meanwhile, the lads could set some records as well!
Colin Farrell (“The Penguin”) or Andrew Scott (“Ripley”) could become the first Irish actor to ever win in the Best Actor in a Limited Series / TV Movie category.
The two Dublin natives are up against Richard Gadd ("Baby Reindeer"). Tom Hollander ("FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans"), Kevin Kline ("Disclaimer"), and Ewan McGregor ("A Gentleman in Moscow").

On the film side of the Critics Choice Awards for 2025, “Conclave” and “Wicked” lead this year's nominees with 11 nominations each. On the television side, "Shōgun” (FX / Hulu) leads with six nominations.
The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will broadcast live on E! from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California at 7 pm on Friday, February 7. The show will also be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
