Kevin Barry’s Pub in Savannah, McGettigan’s Pub in Singapore and The Jar Pub in Dublin are among the finalists at this year’s Irish Pubs Global Awards, which will take place on in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin at the end of the month.
“The Irish Pub continues to enjoy iconic status around the world and we’re delighted to have so many pubs from home and abroad on this year’s shortlist” said entrepreneur and President of Irish Pubs Global Enda O’Coineen.
“Pubs continue to play a very important ambassadorial role for Ireland and this gathering is an opportunity to share new ideas and innovations and stories with our peers” he said.

Over 600 delegates from the Irish Pub sector from Ireland and abroad are expected at this year’s Gathering which also includes a conference, the theme of which is ‘Creating A Destination Pub’. The keynote address will be delivered by Senator Billy Lawless who previously headed up the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland (VFI) and is also owner of a number of successful pubs and restaurants in Chicago. Other speakers include Peter Nash from Tourism Ireland, Seamus O’Hara from the Carlow Brewing Company, Kay McCarthy who will speak on how best to market the pub to Generation Y, and Kevin Arundel from the Chophouse Gastropub who will advise on how to cook traditional Irish food with a twist.
The awards are part of the fifth annual Irish Pubs Global Federation Gathering event which runs from September 26 until the 28. The awards will honor business excellence in the Irish pub industry at home and abroad. Categories include Worldwide Irish Pub of the Year, Best Native Irish Pub, Best International Irish Pub Food and Marketing Campaign of the Year.
