It is with great disappointment that we have to admit to have fallen for a overwhelmingly clever media campaign. No, there will unfortunately be no foreseeable ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ sequel, but rather a witty campaign for Honda’s CRV that plays on the popular John Hughes film.

A 10-second teaser clip that was released last week had fans salivating at the thought of ‘Ferris’ sequel after Honda smartly chose not to reveal what the campaign was for. Rather, the clip appeared to be a teaser for a potential sequel, and then flashed the date ‘2.5.12,’ the day of Super Bowl XLVI.

Many fans and curious passersby thought they would have to wait until the big Giants and Patriots Indianapolis show-down to get the full story about the veracity of a ‘Ferris’ sequel.

Today, however, the full video was released, days before it’s official release during Super Bowl XLVI. The full ad reveals that it was nothing more than a campaign for Honda.

We can’t even be mad, though! The advertisement, named ‘Matthew’s Day Off,’ is actually very smart and witty, playing on fan favorites from the iconic John Hughes 80s film.
