Coláiste Lurgan, a Gaeltacht school in Connemara, County Galway,  became world famous for the production of excellent music videos re-interpreting popular songs in Ireland’s native language, Irish (Gaelige).

Of their most popular have been “Amhrán na gCupán,” their interpretation of “When I'm Gone” made famous in the Glee club movie “Pitch Perfect,” and Avicii’s “Wake Me Up.” They have, so far, received 2,761,344 and 4,166,591 views on YouTube respectively and their numbers are sure to keep going.

The voices of 600+ Irish students singing songs they love in Irish, really well, might we add, is excellent.

The college’s focus is on “Gaelige gan eagla” (“Irish without fear”) and promoting the general use of Irish among the younger generations. The videos are made on a voluntary basis by the students of Coláiste Lurgan and local professionals who offer assistance free of charge.

Even Avicii himself gave his stamp of approval to the videos. The Swedish DJ tweeted, “This one’s so cool! Can’t understand a word but I love it!”

Here are the two brilliant videos:
