Fifty lucky dance students from were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this week to learn for some of the best performers Irish-dancing has to offer.
In a fun-filled dance masterclass, students from dance groups Dance Connection and The Dance Class met with the stars from “Riverdance” on Broadway to try their hand, or more specifically their feet, at some Irish-dancing steps.
The young students met with three dancers from the Broadway production of the renowned Irish dance show in Dreamers Lounge at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA to put their tap shoes to good use with some hard shoe Irish-dancing. Learning one of the main dance routines from the show, the students were treated to their first Irish dance class from the best of the best.
Speaking to NBC, "Riverdance" troupe dancer Sarah Woods said, "All of us love dancing. It's our passion and we like to teach to the next generation or people who have been doing different styles of dance.
“It's great to show our culture as well. This is Irish-dancing and Ireland is where I come from so it's great to be able to show people that have never done it before.”
Maybe we’ll see a few of these students return to "Riverdance" in the future!
