Kellie Harrington, one of Ireland's newest Olympic Gold medalists, made a brief appearance on stage during The Wolfe Tones' massive set at Electric Picnic in Co Laois yesterday, Sunday, August 18.

Harrington, a native of Dublin, was filmed waving an Irish flag on the music festival's main stage during the Irish band's set in front of throngs of crowds.

“What a girl, what a girl!" lead singer Brian Warfield said as Harrington embraced the members of the band.

It wasn't long before audience members erupted into chants of "ole, ole, ole!"

Warfield added: “And you know something, I’m going to invite her to come down to the 3Arena and sing with The Wolfe Tones for the last shows down there at the 3Arena in October."

The crowd erupted into even more cheers upon the suggestion.

Harrington is likely still in celebration mode after winning Gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, making her the first Irish female athlete to not only win medals at two Olympic Games, but to win two Gold medals.

After her big Olympic win, Harrington delivered a viral moment when she launched into an impromptu sing-song of "Grace," a classic Irish ballad that The Wolfe Tones cover.

Meanwhile, Electric Picnic said The Wolfe Tones' set on the festival's main stage on Sunday will be "a day we’ll talk about for years to come."

A TikTok of the band performing "Grace" on Sunday shows the scale of the crowd they drew:

The Irish ballad group, first formed in the 1960s, was invited to play the main stage this year after their set at last year's festival "drew the biggest crowd ever in the Electric Arena, with fans enjoying the music inside and outside the tent, singing along to every song.”

After their gig on Sunday, The Wolfe Tones said "What an experience, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did, ecstatic!!!"
