The Belfast rappers, who rap As Gaeilge and whose film is set to release in Irish theatres next month, have been going from strength to strength following a huge gig at Glastonbury, earning praise from former Oasis man Noel Gallagher.

Despite gaining controversy for having lyrics some have deemed "anti-English," the lads have gained another English fan in Elton John — who played their song "Better Way to Live" on his "Rocket Hour" radio show on Apple Music.

"Kneecap are from Belfast, who combine satire and socially conscious hip hop lyrics," Elton said on the show. "They’re fantastic. I’ve only just discovered them, and it’s from the new album 'Fine Art.' The song is about finding that little spark of joy, and the little things in boring, everyday life.

"They’re going to be a really big band," Elton continued.

"I really love them. Kneecap, remember that."

The lads shared the Elton endorsement on their Twitter (X), writing "What’s this…..only @EltonOfficial playing us and being sound," alongside a heart and fire emoji.

"We went to see these Northern Irish street kids called Kneecap," Noel told Matt Morgan.

"They’re kind of pro-Republican rappers. We get there and the tent is absolutely f***ing smashed packed. You couldn’t get in.

"These three lads walk out, one of them is in a balaclava and they rap in [gaeilge]," Noel continued.

"They’ve got a song called 'Get Your Brits Out', There’s a lot of humor to it… I mean I couldn’t believe how enjoyable it was.

"Being of Irish heritage I found that quite funny and they were really, really good."
