Liam Neeson has been spotted on the streets of Limerick City filming for his next movie “4 Kids Walk Into A Bank," an adaptation of the 2017 comic book by Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss.

Filming for the new Neeson-fronted flick has prompted Limerick City Council to enact various street closures throughout the city Monday through Friday to facilitate a Wild Atlantic Films production.

With filming apparently underway, photos and videos are circulating on social media of the Co Antrim Oscar nominee working his magic in Limerick.

Live95Limerick posted a TikTok of Neeson on set:

@live95limerick Liam Neeson has begun filming a major Irish-American Hollywood production in Limerick. '4 Kids Walk Into a Bank' is a dark heist comedy adapted from a comic book and will transform the streets of Limerick into 1990s America. #limerickcity #limerick #liamneeson ♬ original sound - Live95 Limerick

Nigel Dugdale shared this clip of Neeson "taking an auld stroll" in the city:

While Irish man Liam Neeson is fronting the new movie, "4 Kids Walk Into a Bank" will look distinctly American, at least judging by these transformations in Limerick.

Diane O'Doherty shared photos of cars with Massachusetts license plates on the streets of Limerick for the film set:

Gleeson's Spar on Catherine Street in Limerick also shared how it's been transformed into an American-style mini-mart for the Neeson flick:

Mother Mac's Pub on Limericks' High Street and Upper Denmark Street is also getting on the fun.

"Mother Macs in the Movies!!" the pub said on social media.

The Commercial on Limerick's Catherine Street is also being used.

Ricky O’Shea, proprietor of The Commercial, told The Irish Examiner: “They needed somewhere as a base camp for cast and crew to get changed because there’s so much of it being shot on the street outside.

“They’ve turned Limerick back into the 1990s and made the local shop look like something from the States, it’s been great fun.”

Deadline reported in August that Neeson was in talks to star in "4 Kids Walk Into a Bank."

According to Deadline, Neeson will play ex-bank robber Danny, whose teenage granddaughter Paige (played by Talia Ryder) means the world to him. So when she overhears that his former gang is pulling him back in for one more score to pay a debt, she comes up with the only logical solution: She enlists her three ride-or-die best friends to rob the bank the day before so he doesn’t have to.

As well as Talia Ryder, Neeson is set to star with Noah Jupe ("A Quiet Place"), Whitney Peak ("Gossip Girl"), Jack Dylan Grazer ("It"), and Deacon Phillippe, son of Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon in the new film.

Some Limerick locals may soon spot themselves on the big screen - last week, Project Casting posted an open call for background actors who reside in Limerick City or nearby areas.

Deadline reported that FilmNation was launching sales on the dark heist comedy at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

"4 Kids Walk Into a Bank" is set to be directed by Frankie Shaw. Based on the graphic novel by Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss, the film was adapted by Matt Robinson with revisions by Shaw.

The new movie was developed and co-financed by Erik Feig’s Picturestart, the media company that won the right to the comic book series in 2020. Picturestart will also produce with Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures and Black Mask Studios. Shaw is also producing.

The Irish Examiner notes that produced by Wild Atlantic Pictures, the “4 Kids Walk Into A Bank" project is in collaboration with Film in Limerick and Robbers Productions DAC, who are helping with set design and the sourcing of vintage vehicles.
