Nicola Coughlan, the Irish star of such hits as “Derry Girls” and “Bridgerton,” has been included on the 2024 TIME100 Next list, which was revealed on Wednesday, October 2.

“An unbelievable and overwhelming honour to be included in the Time 100 for 2024,” Galway native Coughlan said on Instagram on Wednesday.

“Couldn’t be more grateful to @time and to @shondarhimes for your beautiful words.”

Coughlan's Instagram post has drawn more than 141k likes and has been met with a flood of congratulatory comments.

TIME says that its TIME100 Next list, now in its fifth year, recognizes "100 emerging leaders from around the world who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership."

Coughlan is among the 18 people selected for the 'Artists' portion of this year's TIME100 Next list. Other categories in the list are Phenoms, Advocates, and Innovators, as well as Leaders, where Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill made the cut this year.

For the TIME feature, Coughlan was profiled by Shonda Rhimes, the executive producer of the Netflix smash hit "Bridgerton" in which Coughlan stars as Penelope Featherington.

"She is her own diamond of every season who lights up every room she enters," Rhimes writes of Coughlan. "She is a warm, engaging, and thoughtful person who fights for causes she believes in and displays a generosity of spirit to everyone she meets."

Rhimes noted how Coughlan "emerged as our leading lady with grace and power" in the third season of "Bridgerton," noting how the Irish actress brought "magic and joy" while touring the world and connecting with fans.

"The passion and excellence that she has brought to 'Bridgerton' is only just the beginning of the long, successful career she is inevitably bound to have," Rhimes writes. "Dearest gentle reader, the best of Nicola is yet to come ..."
