Resurfaced footage sees Oasis’ Noel Gallagher reveal how his Irish mother used to "religiously drag us by the ear over across the Irish sea" to spend summer in Ireland.

The rock band are back in action after stunning fans on Tuesday morning with the announcement that they were going on tour in the UK and Ireland next summer.

It will be the first time the band will be on stage together after 15 years of feuding between brothers Noel and Liam which preceded a physical fight just minutes before they were set to play Rock en Seine, in Paris, in 2009.

Following reports that the Mancunian brothers had set aside their differences, the official Oasis account confirmed the band was set for a comeback, including two Croke Park dates.

They’ve also made some Irish television appearances, with one appearance resurfacing following news of their return.

Noel Gallagher appeared on RTÉ One’s "The Late Late Show" way back in 1996 and had a brilliant chat about his Irish roots with the presenter at the time, the late Gay Byrne.

Asked how Irish he thought he was, Noel responded he was "half."

"I was born and raised in Manchester but my mother is from Charlestown in County Mayo and my Dad’s from Duleek in Meath, so that makes me exactly half," he explained before joking: "Although which half, I wouldn’t know."

Gay then asked the singer how often he had been back in Charlestown, with Noel confirming "My Mam used to religiously drag us by the ear over across the Irish Sea for six weeks every summer.

"We’d never seen the likes of nettles and fields and stacks of hay and all that and she was determined to give us a bit of Irish culture because we were used to, like, concrete and flats and stuff," Noel shared.

"It was a bit of a culture shock for maybe the first four or five years, but we just grew to love it. I still do to this day.

"The great thing, the other day was when we came up from the airport is, you know that smell is in the air when the like turf’s burning. It’s like as soon as you smell that it like almost brings a tear to your eye.

"It just reminds you of your childhood."
