Paul Mescal’s father has revealed his pride at his son’s starring role in the new "Gladiator" blockbuster.

The Mescal family is not short of talent, with 28-year-old Paul already Oscar-nominated and his sister Nell releasing her first EP earlier in the year.

Paul Snr is certainly not lagging behind his offspring, currently starring in the brand new play "ARE YA DANCIN?"

Poking fun at his namesake, [presenter] Katja felt the need to bring up Paul Jr during the interview, asking; "I think it’s time to talk about Paul Mescal eile [other], we hear he’s in a small indie film called 'Gladiator 2' – how proud are you of him?"

The Dad-of-two responded: "It’s very difficult to explain, to say you’re very proud is a little bit cliché but it is that at the same time.

"I was thinking about this, you know, I was lucky enough to be in the Colosseum back in February and I’m a little bit nerdy about history and stuff like that.

"I was just standing there and I was thinking about how horrible it was to have been there and thinking about the horrific things.

"Then at the other side to think that my son is actually going to play this in an entertainment world – but at the same time that would bring a picture of what actually happened in the Colosseum.

"It kind of gets me all emotional, that aspect of things."

“There’s a great honor in seeing Paul do this for us” ❤️
