Glenn Beck's 2008 novel "The Christmas Sweater" may be created into a movie soon.

Former HBO executive Stephen Scheffer, who acquired the film rights to the novel, told The Hollywood Reporter that he's in talks with several studios on creating a movie adaptation. Sony had picked up the story as a possible low budget, direct-to-video movie, but budget and script issues halted the project.

The story is a fictionalized account of a 12-year old Beck's last Christmas with his mother, a drug addict who committed suicide the following year. Struggling financially, his mother was only able to buy him a sweater for Christmas.

In 2009, the controversial Fox host told Don Imus that the Christmas led to his own problems with drugs and alcohol.

A live one-man stage show of "The Christmas Sweater," performed by Beck on tour, was filmed and shown in theaters in 2009.
