After the screening of Greta Gerwig-helmed "Little Women," starring our very own Saoirse Ronan and Emma Watson, it seems the Irish star is a shoo-in for an Academy Award in 2020.
It's the end of October-early November, and the Oscar race is heating up as usual.
As always a bunch of standout performers is in the mix for nominations, including Saoirse Ronan, who stars in "Little Women" which drops on Christmas Day, just in time for awards season. The film reunites Saoirse with her "Lady Bird" director Greta Gerwig, who also helms wrote the screenplay for "Little Women."

Saoirse, 25, is a bona fide star who’s going to get an Academy Award some year, and a bunch of critics thinks she’s a shoo-in for a 2020 nomination at least. "Little Women" had its first “official” screening in Los Angeles last week, and the critical buzz is growing.
“So I’ve seen Little Women twice now and it’s one of my very favorite movies of the year,” Entertainment Weekly writer David Canfield tweeted. “Greta Gerwig delivers a both passionately faithful and gorgeously original take. Saoirse is a fierce Jo, Chalamet/Dern/Streep esp are great in support, and Florence Pugh is astonishing.”
Variety’s Marc Malkin tweeted, “#LittleWomen could earn multiple Oscar noms, including best picture and directing for Greta Gerwig. As well as another for Gerwig for adapted screenplay. As for acing noms — lead actress for #SaoirseRonan, supporting for #FlorencePugh and possible #TimotheeChalamet.”
Saoirse is doing her part to promote her new film. She was at the LA screening and also walked the red carpet at the Governors Awards on Sunday night alongside a bunch of other Oscar contenders, including Scarlett Johansson, Renee Zellweger, and Jennifer Lopez…yes, JLo, who killed it in her big hit "Hustlers."
