Shane MacGowan left a €1million fortune to his wife Victoria Mary Clarke.

The Pogues frontman passed away in November 2023, at the age of 65 years old.

Now, it has been revealed just how much his beloved wife inherited following his tragic passing.

According to The Irish Mirror, it is reported that the "Fairytale of New York" hitmaker left his wife an estate of €849,733 when he died.

The couple also owned a home together in the luxurious suburb of Ballsbridge in Dublin, which would be worth a small fortune if ever sold.

Public documents reveal MacGowan appointed Victoria as executor of his will ahead of his death.

It is also believed that if Victoria died "predeceasing me/or dying simultaneously," MacGowan wanted his sister Siobhan Hayes to inherit the vast estate.

The author and the singer were together for more than 40 years until his sad passing.

While the pair were madly in love over the span of their four-decade relationship, Victoria recently explained that children were never in the cards for them.

Speaking on the What A Woman Podcast, hosted by Sarah Benner and Caroline Lyons, Victoria explained why they never grew their family.

She said: "It wasn’t part of our [story]. I don’t think children would have really survived, honestly I don’t."

The hosts found her take refreshing, slamming those who assume everyone wants children.

"I’ve never understood that. That would be like you telling me that everybody should want to be a bungee jumper or a racing driver – I can’t understand that. It doesn’t make sense to me.

"I can see how people think that having children is going to give them some kind of continuity, something will live on when they die or maybe somebody will look after them when they’re old. I can see that because there’s a practical side to it.

"But I just never [wanted kids]."
