Travellers planning on a Dublin vacation later this year will have the opportunity to see the world premiere of the stage version of the popular film "The Shawshank Redemption."

The new play will have its debut at the Irish capital's Gaiety Theatre on May 14 and run until June 20.

Based on a short story by Stephen King, "The Shawshank Redemption" is the tale of a man who is wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his wife and her lover, but never gives up hope of winning his freedom.

The performers set to appear in the show include Kevin Anderson, a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and Reg Cathey, star of the acclaimed television dramas "Oz" and "The Wire."

After the run of "The Shawshank Redemption" has come to an end, the Gaiety will host "Riverdance."
