14-year-old Sophie Lennon has become the first person from Northern Ireland to be a contestant on the US program inspired by ITV’s "Britain’s Got Talent."

The girl from Mayobridge, in Co Down, left judges Howie Mandel, model Heidi Klum, "Modern Family" actress Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell blown away by her stunning vocals.

Taking to social media ahead of her performance airing in America on Tuesday night on NBC & Peacock TV, Sophie said she’s "always dreamed" of performing on the show.

"I can’t believe I’m actually writing this post but I can finally share with you all after keeping it secret for so long that I’m going to be on this season of 'America’s Got Talent.' It’s been an absolutely crazy whirlwind six months.

"Shocked that I was scouted for back in February and flown out by 'AGT' all the way to Los Angeles from Ireland, all expenses paid, along with my mum and dad for all the filming which took place over 3 days!

"My episode will be aired across America & worldwide on NBC & Peacock TV this Tuesday night, July 23, for their final show this year! I’m still pinching myself with what all is happening lately, I’ve always dreamed of being on 'AGT' from I was little, watching all their YouTube videos and I just can’t believe my dream has come true," she said.

Sophie added: "I’m absolutely privileged to be the first person ever from Northern Ireland to be chosen to perform on the biggest talent show in the world. I still can’t believe it, what an experience it’s been so far and I can’t wait to share my journey with you all.

"Thank you all so so much for your continued support to me throughout everything it means the world to me! Stay tuned for lots more to come. Thank you to my fantastic teacher Fiona Flynn for being an amazing and supportive teacher to me."

The schoolgirl previously finished fourth for Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with 150 points, the highest points tally ever received in the competition.

Speaking to the Mirror about her daughter’s breakout moment on the talent show, Sophie’s mum said: "It happened very fast, we got a call saying that they wanted her to audition for 'America’s Got Talent' and within a week we were in LA – it was all very quick, choosing what song to sing and everything.

"They sorted everything out and there was even a chauffeur waiting at the airport for her and all. It was back in March and they had her sing on St Patrick’s Day too. It was such a class experience. To be chosen to have her audition be aired on TV is just incredible."
