Here's a list of the oddest Guinness World Records ever performed in Ireland. Our friends at the Irish Post in Britain first compiled it.
1. Longest Marathon Playing Guitar
Dave Browne set the world record for continuous guitar playing at The Temple Bar pub in Dublin when he played for a total of 114 hours, 6 minutes, and 30 seconds.
He was allowed five minutes rest per hours of playing, no more than 30 seconds between songs and he had to wait four hours before he could repeat a song.
2. Most Vertical Feet Run in 24 Hours
In June 2011, 11 members of The Reek Challenge team ran 59,337 ft 7 in up and down Croagh Patrick, Co Mayo, to set the record of most vertical feet run in a day. Each member of the team had to make 12 ascents and descents up the mountain to make the total.
3. Most Tennis in an Hour
Irishman Sean Rooney made 1,158 tennis serves in an hour (about 19 serves a minute) at the Co Wicklow Lawn Tennis Club in Bray on September 18, 2011.
4. Longest Journey with a Fridge
This wacky feat was performed by English comedian Tony Hawks for a bet and resulted in a book 'Round Ireland with Fridge' and a movie.
Hawks traveled the circumference of Ireland, hitch-hiking with a fridge, and covered 1,650km in a month.
He won £100 from his friend for the the bet.
5. Longest career as a live match commentator
Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh began his broadcasting career as a live match commentator for RTE on March 17 1949.
Known for his fast-paced commentary for the GAA, he worked for 62 years, until his retirement on October 30 2010, aged 80.
6. Oldest Moon Map
The oldest map of the moon was discovered at the excavation of the Megalithic passage tomb at Knowth. A beam of light from the rising moon illuminates a stone, labeled ‘orthostat 47′, at the back of the passage.
Carved markings on the stone illustrate the surface landscape of the moon, showing the shapes of the lunar maria, the dark flat plains.
7. Most Generations Born on Leap Day
With only one leap day every four years, having three generations of one family being born on the day is an amazing coincidence.
Peter Anthony Keogh was born in Ireland in 1940 on February 29, a leap day.
Then Keogh's son, Peter Eric, was born in the UK on the same date in 1964.
And amazingly, his grand-daughter, Bethany, was also born on a leap day in 1996.
8. Most Rubik's Cubes Solved on a Unicycle
Adrian Leonard, a 42-year-old pilot from Northern Ireland, solved a 28 Rubik's Cubes while balancing on a unicycle at Mary Peter's Track in Belfast on October 6, 2010.
9. Most Irish Dancing Heel Clicks in 30 seconds
Benedict Devlin performed 191 Irish Dance style heel clicks in 30 seconds on the set of "Guinness World Records -- Smashed" in London on April 23, 2009.
10. Most Socks Worn on One Foot.
Fiona Nolan put 152 socks on one foot on March 25, 2011 at Enterasys Networks in Shannon, Co. Clare, Ireland. The feat was attempted to support the Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day Campaign 2011.
