"Derry Girls" star Saoirse-Monica Jackson's hotly anticipated BBC crime series is finally available to watch and fans are already giving it rave reviews.

The Derry native, who is engaged to DJ and producer Denis Sulta, stars opposite a well-known cast including actor Sean Bean in "This City Is Ours."

If "Adolescence" left you wanting to hear more scouse accents, you are in luck as the drama is set in Liverpool.

"This City Is Ours" follows Michael, a man who has long been involved in organised crime, who works for his friend and gang leader Ronnie.

As Ronnie begins to hint at retirement, Michael too is beginning to dream of a life away from crime as for the first time, he's in love.

It's a wonderful yet scary thing to be able to see a future, but even scarier is that he now has something to lose: his love Diana.

The BBC said: "'This City is Ours' is the story of Michael and Diana's love affair, set against the disintegration of Michael's crime gang.

"For years, together with Ronnie, Michael has successfully been bringing cocaine into the city and beyond, directly from Colombia; but when a shipment goes missing, he knows their kingdom is under attack."

"[It] explores what happens when Ronnie's son Jamie decides he wants to inherit their kingdom and that there is no longer a place for Michael at the table," the broadcaster continued.

"Both Michael and Jamie have bold ideas to modernise the gang and they will battle for control of it. But Michael's biggest battle will be to save the woman he loves and the child he has always wanted.

"This is a story about family, and love destroyed and corrupted by ambition, pride, and greed. It's a story about power: what we will do to secure and keep it," it concluded.

Sounds intriguing!

Saoirse-Monica clearly formed a close bond with the cast during filming and as "This City Is Ours" dropped shared snaps with the group on social media.

The actors all wore matching black and pink caps, reading 'Muffia' in the cute pictures.

"This City is Our is out now on @bbciplayer. I love Liverpool, I loved this cast & crew & I really REALLY loved doing a dance routine with Sean Bean," she wrote.

Fans have already praise the crime drama. One impressed viewer said: "Absolutely loving this fabulous acting!!"

A second person wrote: "Finished the series tonight, so good."

The show is now available to watch on BBC and BBC iPlayer now.
