Lily Collins, the actress daughter of singer Phil Collins, told NBC talk show host Jimmy Fallon that she was haunted by the ghost of a young girl during the time she spent working on a film in Dublin earlier this year.

Collins, 24, appeared on Fallon’s show on Monday and told him about a “presence” she felt in her hotel room at the Shelbourne in Dublin, one of the city’s most famous locations that hosted Michelle Obama and her daughters in June.

Collins stayed in the Shelbourne while filming “Love, Rosie,” and told Fallon about the night of her surreal experience.

“I open my eyes and I hear a giggle,” she said.  “And then I felt a rush of air across my body and I heard all these doors slamming, like fire doors - the ones you don’t hear opening, but then the air - it closes. “Three of them - and there were three doors outside my room,” she said.

When she spoke about the incident with Shelbourne staff they relayed the story of the young Mary Masters, a seven year old who, legend has it, haunts the sixth floor of the Shelbourne – the same floor Collins was staying on.

According to the Irish Independent, “Mary is believed to have died from a cholera outbreak in 1846 and was believed to have lived in the buildings which now house the Shelbourne Hotel. Legend has it that she refuses to leave.

“Over the years, Mary has reportedly been sighted in the basement of the hotel by staff stocking the wine cellar or doing the laundry.

Mary’s name has never appeared on any kind of register in relation to the Shelbourne – it’s believed a medium obtained her identity some years ago.”

Collins spent several weeks in Dublin filming “Love, Rosie,” based on the best-selling novel by Irish author Cecelia Ahern. It is due for release next year.

Collins was on the Fallon show to promote her film “The Mortal Instruments – City of Bones,” which opens next week.
