Susan Boyle sang on the “Today” show this morning, marking her third American performance ahead of the release of her debut album, “I Dreamed A Dream.”
The Scottish singing sensation has come a long way since her “Britain’s Got Talent” debut, appearing extremely confident and polished looking on “Today.”
Matt Lauer introduced Boyle, who first performed the hit that made her famous: “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Mis.”
The singer, who wore a navy overcoat, red scarf and matching red nail polish, fed off the crowd’s reaction to her and played to her fans, shaking her scarf at them, urging them to make some noise.
As paparazzi continually snapped photos of the Scottish star, she went on to sing “Wild Horses,” which she originally performed on “America’s Got Talent.”
Backed by a full orchestra, Susan, who is nearly unrecognizable since she first appeared on “BGT,” knocked the performance out of the park.
She was in good spirits, doing her signature shake as she sang as fans, including one man waving a tiny Irish flag, cheered her on.
Soon she was back to sing another track off her new album, the blues ballad “Cry Me a River.”
Susan then thanked her fans for making her debut album the best-selling CD in Amazon pre-sales history.
The talented singer was a bit shyer while being interviewed by Lauer and Meredith Vieira.
Boyle said she’s been working hard since arriving in New York, and would love to take some time to look around.
The Scottish star said she had assistance choosing which songs would be included in her highly anticipated album, and a wide range of styles, from bluesy ballads to upbeat pop hits, were picked to appeal to a larger audience.
“Variety is the spice of life,” Susan said.
The 48-year-old revealed that she has dedicated her album to her Irish mother Bridget, who she says was a “unique,” “caring” and “lovely person” that always believed in her.
Al Roker went on to speak with some of Susan’s fans, including one man who says he has a dream to be on Broadway, and credited Boyle as his inspiration.
No question that the singing sensation will continue to inspire if she continues to deliver high calibur performances like her "Today" show appearance.
