The parents of the Irish girl, Kalie Gill, have offered their support to the driver who killed their 15-year-old daughter, at a church carnival crash in Yonkers, New York

Damien and Karen Gill are currently mounting a bedside vigil as, Kalie’s 12-year-old sister, Lindsey fights for her life after the horror crash.

They have spent the past days praying for their little girl, seriously injured when sixth grade teacher Roseanne Piccirilli plowed her car into the girls as they left a fundraiser event at Coyne Park, in Yonkers.

The website LoHud.com reports that the Gills, who only recently re-emigrated to America from Ireland, hold no grudge towards 55-year-old Piccirilli.

Speaking at a waiting room at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, Mum Karen said “She’s a good woman, a good person and she didn’t mean to do this. I believe it was a freak accident. I just wish her well.”

Dad Damien added “We hold no grievance against the driver, and Kalie wouldn’t want that either. We’re sure she’s hurting. It’s just unfortunate that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Police in Yonkers are still investigating the crash and how the car plowed into the two Irish girls and have yet to make any decision on charges against Piccirilli who was volunteering at the carnival that night.

Witnesses say her Jeep suddenly sped out of the parking lot and struck three occupied vehicles, two parked vehicles and four girls before stopping on McLean Avenue. Two 13-year-old girls were also treated for minor injuries.

Dad Damien added “We’ve heard different stories about what happened. Police don’t know the truth yet.”

His daughters had attended the carnival with cousins.

The Gills have no plans to leave the hospital until Lindsey, currently in a medically induced coma, comes through.

“As long as it takes, we’ll be here,” said Karen. “Broken bones can be fixed.”

Lindsey briefly regained consciousness a few times. She suffered head wounds, internal bleeding and multiple broken bones to her lower body.

Karen paid tribute to daughter Kalie and described her as "every parent’s dream".

She added “She was peaceful, caring, funny, extra gentle, never lost her temper. She was like all girls in some respects and was a fan of Facebook and Twitter.

“She enjoyed downloading music, going to the ocean on Long Island with her family, and getting manicures and pedicures with her siblings, including older sister Jamie."

Speaking of Lindsey her mother said “She’s very funny, bubbly and caring. She was always looking out for Kalie, and Kalie would look out for her. They were always together.”

The report says that Father James Healy, of St. Paul’s, spoke with Piccirilli on Saturday night and said she was ‘inconsolable’ over the girl’s death.

He said: “She just couldn’t believe it occurred. I don’t know if something medically happened to her, or maybe there was something wrong with the car. We just don’t know yet.”

On Monday, Lindsey remained in a medically induced coma, her father said. The girl, who briefly regained consciousness a couple of times, suffered head wounds, internal bleeding and multiple broken bones to her lower body.
