The 2015 Irish Post Awards, celebrating the success of Irish people across a variety of industries, was held Friday at the London Hilton. 

This year’s award winners included Louis Walsh, Fionnula Flanagan, Anna Friel, George Best (posthumous award), Brian and Luke Comer, and Chris Ruane.

About 700 guests attended the Irish Post Awards and Business Gala Dinner, which marked 45 years for The Irish Post newspaper.

The black tie event was hosted by Eamonn Holmes, who received a special award celebrating his 35 years in broadcasting.

Louis Walsh, the man behind some of the most successful bands in pop history, was honored for Outstanding Contribution to the Entertainment Industry.

The Outstanding Contribution to the Film & Television Industry accolade was awarded to Dublin-born actress Fionnula Flanagan. Flanagan, who is also a celebrated director, producer, and writer, has worked on film, television, and Broadway and has won numerous awards for her performances.

Actress Anna Friel accepted The Irish Post Heritage Award. 

The Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award was posthumously awarded to footballer George Best and was accepted by his son Calum Best.

Best has been described by the Irish Football Association as “the greatest player to every pull on the green shirt of Northern Ireland”, and by Pelé as “the greatest player in the world.” The Northern Ireland and Manchester United football player is widely considered one of the greatest footballers of all time.

The Outstanding Contribution to Business in Britain Award went to brothers Brian Comer and Luke Comer of The Comer Group, one of the largest property groups in Britain, with assets worth £2.5billion across Europe and the US.

The Irish Post Community Award went to Former MP Chris Ruane, a leading voice for the Irish community during his time in Westminster.

The night also saw the launch of The Irish Post’s InBusiness 2015 magazine, an annual directory of Irish leaders, connectors, and influencers in Britain.

Proceeds from the event’s exclusive raffle went to Console, a national Irish suicide charity.
