Top Bollywood producers, directors, and location scouts have spent a week looking at landmark buildings for possible filming following the success of the movie “Ek Tha Tiger” (“Once There Was A Tiger”), starring Salman Khan.

Filmed in Ireland, in September 2012, “Ek Tha Tiger” is now one of the biggest grossing movies in India, with an estimated 100 million cinemagoers racked up.

The top execs were invited to do further research on filming locations by Tourism Ireland, in India.

Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry, based in Mumbai (Bombay). The films are multi-million dollar productions, with the most expensive productions costing up to $USD 20 million.

The execs visiting Ireland checked out Dublin hotspots such as Trinity College, Dublin Castle, St Stephen's Green, Temple Bar, and the Ha'penny Bridge.

They also took a trip to the west of Ireland and visit Ashford Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, Kenmare, and the Dingle Peninsula. Up north they will look at Titanic Belfast and Dunluce Castle.

Tourism Ireland is confident that the huge popularity of Bollywood films can benefit Irish tourism.

Chief executive Niall Gibbons said, "Bollywood is deep-rooted in the psyche of most Indians and in Indian communities across the world, and the films have a considerable influence on Indian travellers when they are deciding on their holiday destination."

The film representatives present on the trip include Kulmeet Makkar, the Film and Television Producers Guild of India Ltd; Vikesh Bhutani, Excel Entertainment; Huzan Fraser, Tourism Ireland India; Sarita Patil, Balaji Telefilms; and Mitali Mahajan, Ashutosh Gowariker Productions Pvt Ltd; and Amar Butala, UTV Motion Pictures, the film-unit of Disney-UTV.
