Ireland’s first baby of 2025 has been born – just seconds after midnight on New Year’s Day – and a full two weeks early.
Delighted parents Eve Colley and Eric Tyrell from Co Dublin welcomed the first baby of 2025, with baby Bradley entering the world at just 19 seconds past midnight.
Bradley is the couple’s first child and was born at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin. Little Bradley was apparently determined to be the first baby of 2025 as he arrived a full two weeks from his due date.
Just a short hop across the Liffey in the Rotunda Hospital, Martha Gilroy Kelly welcomed a little boy at nine minutes past midnight.
Meanwhile, in Cavan General Hospital, Shannon Kelly gave birth to a baby girl, Naoíse Beggan, at 12.53 am, weighing 7lb 13oz.
A baby boy named Rowan was born at Cork University Hospital at 12.20 am to Cork mum Shannon Gibson, while Ornagh Burke and Ronan Cox welcomed their daughter at Sligo University Hospital at 3.54am.
At 2:24 this morning, Shaunagh Carverry of Longford and her partner Sean Healy welcomed a daughter at the Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
The first arrival, a boy, made an entrance at 1.32 am on what was an extremely busy night at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where eight babies have been born since midnight.
With the help of midwives Sinead Murphy and Kirsty Hawthorn from University Hospital Kerry, baby Féile, weighing 8 lb 3 oz, was born at home to parents Andrea Thornton and Eoin Murphy in County Kerry at 5:41 a.m.
Letterkenny University Hospital also confirmed that they welcomed two babies as Ireland rang in the New Year.
At 8.30 am, Sharon and Lee O’Hara welcomed their daughter Norah, who weighed 8lb 10oz.
Shortly after, at 9.06 am, parents Niamh and Eric Roberts welcomed a boy, who weighed 6 lb 3oz.
