Cheerleading in Killarney
This is the story of how cheerleading was introduced to Killarney, in County Kerry, by Killarney Scorchers Club, and was taken to heart by the young people so much that they now have a team competing in in one of the most prestigious competitions in the cheerleading calendar.
How it all started?
This week - Killarney Scorchers’ Coach - Danny Farkas gives us an account of how cheerleading started in Killarney. For those not familiar with cheerleading – cheer is a combination of acrobatic stunting, pyramids, gymnastic tumbling, and highly choreographed routines. Danny and Hayley are the reason we have cheerleading in Killarney and have a team heading to The Summit in Florida – a huge achievement for this young club.
Sharing the journey – our quest for sponsors
Killarney Scorchers’ journey in search of sponsorship and funds is now gathering momentum! As well as seeking sponsors for the team – uniforms, training gear, shoes, bows, tracksuits, backpacks the Killarney Scorchers’ hard working committee are also busy organizing various fundraising events and in particular are concentrating on getting sponsors for their biggest fundraising event – “A Night at the Dogs!”
Here sponsors will have the opportunity to promote their business in the Official Race Program by sponsoring a full or half page, sponsoring a race or indeed becoming a main sponsor for the evening . It will be a wonderful night out for all the family with maybe even a few surprises on the night! Contact Margaret if you want to be part of this occasion.
If you think you can help the Killarney Scorchers Summit Team email Margaret Dineen, their Fundraising Co-Coordinator at [email protected].For more information visit their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter
