A pipe bomb exploded outside of a Dublin residence in which a grandmother and her grandson were sleeping.
Police in Coolock are investigating the explosion which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The pipe bomb was left on the hood of a silver Ford Fusion on Belcamp Avenue in Dublin 17. The vehicle had its front windshield shattered, and the front door to the residence also sustained damage. No one was injured as a result of the explosion.
A police spokesperson said that investigations were ongoing, and are looking for anyone with information to come forward. This pipe bomb blast echoes a similar event last month where another bomb exploded outside of a house on Apollo Way in Coolock, also in the early morning hours.
Police detectives are investigating if a local gang is responsible for the incidents.
