A new Irish family history website has been launched which will offer the 80 million people who claim Irish heritage around the globe, unrivaled access to information on their ancestors.
The new website, findmypast.ie will include a comprehensive database of Irish records, dating back to the 1400s up until the 1920s.
Irish family history records on the website include land and estate records; Griffith’s Valuation of Ireland; directories; military and rebellion records; migration records and wills dating back as far as the 13 th century.
Launched on Thursday, people can now search over four million records made available on www.findmypast.ie.
Speaking about the launch of the new website, Cliona Weldon, General Manager at findmypast.ie, said: "Our new site offers a crucial entry point to family history researchers trying to locate Irish ancestors, from novice family historians to seasoned genealogists who have hit a 'wall' in their research.
“As well as helping people trace their ancestors, these records shed more light on our ancestors' day-to-day lifestyles," Weldon added.
