The Narrowbacks, the New York-bred Irish American folk rock group, released their new single "S.O.S." on Friday, March 7, just in time for St. Patrick's Day 2025.

Narrowbacks frontman Seamus Keane tells IrishCentral that "S.O.S." - written by bandmember Barry Walsh - is "a return to the more upbeat party songs that people are used to hearing from us."

Indeed, the latest release comes about a year after their previous, more melancholic single "Runaway."

While "S.O.S." has a more "upbeat party" sound than "Runaway," the two have a shared theme of introspection into a fast-paced (and often booze-soaked) lifestyle.

"Woke up wearing last night's clothes," Keane sings in the new single, "missed calls, missed work, mistakes of old / rinse and repeat, you're spinning out / you count your teeth, they cracked you in the mouth."

Still, as the accompanying music video proves, this tune is sure to get revelers stomping bar floors this St. Patrick's Day season.

"S.O.S. in the dead of night / This bar won’t give you an alibi / You spent your cash and you lost your seat / They took your hat but you will still stand fast."

Keane told IrishCentral that he and Walsh - the duo met while undergrads at Iona University in New York - "started seriously writing songs, going back and forth with ideas and demos around Christmas."

In February, the lads hit the Nada Studios in Montgomery, New York, and finished up at Audio Pilot Studios in New Jersey.

Keane noted that the music video for "S.O.S." was recorded at the renowned Iona College stomping ground The Beechmont with Iona Pipers, rugby players, and Gaelic society members in attendance "keeping the tradition alive."

Great Night At The Beechmont last night!

Keane teased that "S.O.S." is the first of "three to four new songs coming over the next few months" from The Narrowbacks, who released their debut album "Fire It Up" more than a decade ago.

Armed with a new single, The Narrowbacks have another jam-packed schedule this St. Patrick's Day season, including gigs in Bay Ridge, Throgs Neck, and Long Beach, as well as Connolly's Times Square on March 17.
